Drop-Off Days: August 1 - August 19

沙巴体育滚球In order to provide a move-in experience that is both flexible and socially distant for students and families, students will move their belongings into their room in advance by appointment. Students will be able to schedule a three hour drop-off appointment between August 1 and August 19. Although students may move belongings into their room in advance, students may not stay in their residence hall room until their scheduled welcome day.

Submit Your Student ID Card Photo

In order for your student ID card to be ready when you arrive, students must email an ID card photo to Safety and Security in advance. Using your , email your headshot photo to ID@bennygallagher.com and use “last name, first name” as the subject line. In order for photos to be used as your ID, photos must have a neutral background and not include items that would obstruct your face (e.g. hats, sunglasses, masks, etc.).

Expectations and Responsibilities

To ensure that all students and families have access to a healthy drop-off day, it is important that all individuals understand their responsibilities while on-campus.

  • Residence Hall and Campus Access: Students must complete their residence hall drop off during their scheduled 3 hour appointment window. During the drop-off appointment window, students will only have access to their residence hall and the Safety and Security Office - all other areas of campus are closed.
  • Student Move-In and Arrival: Although students may move belongings into their room in advance, students may not stay in their residence hall room until their scheduled welcome day on August 21.
  • Move-In Helpers: Students are welcome to bring up to two people with them during their drop off time to provide assistance.
  • Face Coverings: All individuals must wear a face mask that covers both the nose and mouth while on campus.
  • COVID Self-Check: All individuals who are coming to campus must self-assess for, and be free of, any COVID exposure or symptoms before coming to campus.

What to Bring

Remember that on your welcome day, only students will be permitted to go into the residence halls. Although you will be able to carry items into the residence hall on your own, it is important to bring as much as you can on your scheduled drop-off day.

Before you begin packing, please review the list of items to bring and not to bring with you. In order to make the move-in process easier, it is recommended to bring a moving cart if you have one available.

Take time with your roommate to learn about your residence hall沙巴体育滚球 and begin planning how you would like to share your space together and organize your room.

At Your Scheduled Appointment

Scheduling to Arrive On-Campus

Please arrive on campus at the start of your 3 hour drop-off appointment as you may not stay beyond the end time of your appointment.

Picking up Your Key and ID

沙巴体育滚球When you arrive, please and follow the signage to . In order to minimize congestion and provide space for distancing, only the student may enter the building for key/ID pick up. Residential Life staff will be there with your key and ID and to welcome you.

Arriving at Your Residence Hall

沙巴体育滚球After checking-in and picking-up your room key and ID card, please go to the unloading zone for your residence hall:

  • : Park in temporary parking in front of the and follow the signage into Haffey Hall.
  • : Park in and follow the signage to the front entrance of Murphy Hall.
  • : Park in and follow the signage to Murray Hall. The 1st floor is accessed from the back parking lot door, while the 2nd & 3rd floors are most easily accessed from the front roadway door.
  • : Park in and follow the signage to the entrance of Ward Hall within the .
Moving Belongings Into Your Room

After you arrive at your residence hall, begin moving items into your room.

Building Accessibility:沙巴体育滚球 Both Haffey Hall and Ward Hall have elevators available for use. When using the elevator during move in, please limit each elevator trip to one family. Although Murphy Hall and Murray Hall do not have elevators, most floors are accessible using doors at ground level.

Room Furniture: Due to COVID-19 and in order to limit people in residence hall rooms, Facilities Services will not be available to raise and lower residence hall beds, or move residence hall furniture, unless a student has a documented medical condition that requires furniture changes. If this is the case, please contact Residential Life at reslife@bennygallagher.com or (585) 385-8281.

Before Leaving Your Residence Hall

When you finish moving belongings into your room, please remember to:

  • Bring any trash or recycling to the designated area on your floor.
  • Turn off lights and ensure no electronics are plugged in.
  • Close the room window, leave the blinds open.
  • If you are the first person moving into the room, please make sure your roommate's space is clear and accessible.

Students who are driving to campus on their own and do not require any helpers to move-in may move belongings into their room on August 23. If you need the assistance of helpers with move-in or would like to move belongings in your room in advance, please schedule a drop-off day appointment.

  • Founders Hall and Michaelhouse: Please park in and come to the lobby. Please follow the signage to pick-up your key.
  • Keough Hall: Please park in and come to the lobby. Please follow the signage to pick-up your key.
  • Upper Quad Hall: Students assigned to Upper Quad Hall will have a new ID card mailed to them that will open both their residence hall door and the interior room door. When you arrive on-campus, please park in and enter .
Moving Belongings Into Your Room

Building Accessibility: With the exception of Michaelhouse, the upperclass residence halls have elevators available for use. When using the elevator during move in, please limit each elevator trip to one family. Although Michaelhouse does not have an elevator, the first and second floors are accessible using doors at ground level.

Transportation Concerns

沙巴体育滚球In order to provide a move-in experience that is socially distant for students and families, students are expected to schedule a drop-off day appointment and move belongings into their room. Students will then return to campus on their scheduled welcome day for the start of orientation and classes. In the interest of social distancing, all campus buildings will be restricted to only students on the welcome day.

Students who live a significant distance from the College who may have an exceptional difficulty with travel and have questions about coordinating move-in should contact Residential Life at reslife@bennygallagher.com or (585) 385-8281.

Welcome Day

沙巴体育滚球In early August, students will receive an email with their specific time to arrive on campus on Welcome Day. First-year students will arrive on August 21 and upperclass will arrive on August 23.

Once the student and family arrive, they will be directed to their residence hall or to the commuter student welcome. In the interest of social distancing, all campus buildings will be restricted to students and families should plan to be in one vehicle and to drop off only.

We will welcome all new first-year students to campus and kick-off First-Year Orientation on Friday, August 21. In early August, students will receive an email with their specific time to arrive on campus on Welcome Day (August 21) in an effort to manage traffic flow.

Arriving On Campus

沙巴体育滚球Students assigned to Murphy Hall will arrive using and will be directed to Students assigned to Haffey Hall, Murray Hall, or Ward Hall will arrive using the and be directed to their residence hall.

沙巴体育滚球Once the student and family arrive, they will be directed to their residence hall. In the interest of social distancing, all campus buildings will be restricted to students only. Families should plan to travel in one vehicle and to drop off only. Students who bring last minute belongings may bring them into the residence hall on their own.

Orientation

We are planning for Orientation for first-year students to be virtual on Wednesday, August 19, and in person Friday, August 21 through Sunday, August 23. As details are finalized, they will be available on the Orientation website.

沙巴体育滚球We will welcome all upperclass students back to campus and kick-off Transfer Orientation on Sunday, August 23. In early August, students will receive an email with their specific time to arrive on campus on Welcome Day (August 23) in an effort to manage traffic flow.

Students who are driving to campus on their own and do not require any helpers to move-in may move belongings into their room on August 23.

Arriving On Campus

Students in upperclass residence halls will arrive using the campus or and proceed to their residence hall. The campus will be restricted to outbound traffic only.

Arriving at Your Residence Hall

Once the student and family arrive, they will be directed to their residence hall. In the interest of social distancing, all campus buildings will be restricted to students only. Families should plan to travel in one vehicle and to drop off only. Students who bring last minute belongings may bring them into the residence hall on their own.

Room Set Up

Both due to a limited supply of extra bed frames and limiting individuals who are in/out of student residence hall rooms, beds will not be lofted this year. Being that students will not be tripled this year, there is plenty of space for both beds to be separated and on the ground. Although the beds are not lofted, they will be set to the highest adjustment (approximately 30 inches high) to provide storage underneath. We chose this as the standard it is the most common furniture set-up that students request.

Room Condition Form (RCF)

沙巴体育滚球When you first arrive in your room, you will be asked to document any damage you see on the Room Condition Form (RCF) in . It is your responsibility to document the condition of your room and include comments or photos as necessary.

Checking Out of Your Room

At the end of the fall semester, you must leave campus for the semester by Wednesday, November 25, the end of classes being in person. At the end of the spring semester, you must move out of your residence hall within 24 hours of your last final exam. View the Academic Calendar.

You are responsible for leaving your room in the same clean and orderly condition in which it was found and for completing all check out procedures. Your RA cannot make damage assessments, or quote any prices or conditions. If you wish to talk about any costs associated with damage billing, contact your residence director.

Personal belongings may not be stored on campus during summer. The College may dispose of any and all items left in the residence halls after the end of the academic year in May. The College may also dispose of any belongings you leave if you withdraw from the College, are suspended, expelled, or removed from the residence halls, or if you vacate your room for any other reason.

You will be charged a removal fee for all personal items and furniture left in your room at the end of the school year.

沙巴体育滚球Once an initial inspection has been conducted, your RA will forward your completed RCF to the residence director. In conjunction with Facilities Services, if Residential Life finds that your room or items in your room have been damaged beyond normal wear, or if College property is missing, you will be billed the appropriate amount (as determined by Facilities Services) for material and labor-related costs in repairing and/or cleaning the room and/or the cost to replace College property.

You will be notified of your charges and the date to appeal damage charges through your Fisher email address after the close of the semester.

Keys and IDs

沙巴体育滚球You will be issued an ID and room key when you arrive on campus. A closet key may be requested from your RD if you have a lockable closet.

沙巴体育滚球Lost room and/or closet keys should be reported to the RD immediately. For lost room keys, a $50 replacement fee will be charged, the lock will be changed, and all roommates will be issued new keys. Lost closet keys will be replaced for $10. Failure to return keys at the time of checkout will result in replacement key charges.

A lost ID must be reported to the Office of Safety and Security immediately. There is a fee for ID replacement.
