Jake Allen ’18
Associate Specialist, Paid Social, Butler/Till
沙巴体育滚球As the Student Government Association’s 2015 Freshman of the Year, Jake Allen ’18 made an immediate impression on campus. And, over the course of his time at the College, he never slowed down.
A media and communication major and ethics minor, Jake served as a managing editor, reporter, photographer, and videographer for the Cardinal Courier沙巴体育滚球, a student-produced monthly news magazine, and was active in The PRIMA Group, a student-run full-service advertising, marketing, and public relations agency.
沙巴体育滚球He credits the supportive environment at the College with fostering his motivation to be involved on campus.
沙巴体育滚球“The compassion of Fisher faculty and staff have helped me realize my true potential and molded me into the person I am today, and I think that’s what makes Fisher so incredible,” said Jake, who took full advantage of all the opportunities in front of him, including a study abroad semester in London.
沙巴体育滚球Those experiences, paired with a passion for communication, technology, and social and digital media led Allen to pursue a career with Butler/Till, a Rochester-based communications agency. There, he traffics digital campaigns for online platforms, primarily serving clients in the pharmaceutics and health care fields. That means Jake has to stay sharp in understanding the ever-changing worlds of two industries.
“Part of my job entails staying up-to-date on the latest health care trends as well as digital media trends that will most likely impact the work that I present throughout my career,” he explained.
沙巴体育滚球It’s a challenge he said he was well prepared for thanks to his Fisher education.
“I feel that I have not only been set up to be successful in any path that I choose but have also been prepared to challenge things that may seem wrong or even overcome obstacles destined to be in my way,” he said.

Since graduating Fisher with an ambitious triple degree in English, French, and adolescent inclusive education, Erin Carey now finds herself as a high school English teacher at James Monroe High School in the Rochester Central School District. 沙巴体育滚球Erin started working with both urban and suburban schools in just her third semester at Fisher. In one of her classes, she spent time at School #58 and brought in iPads and hosted an after-school literacy program. She also had a 14-week student teaching experience where she was able to form relationships with her co-workers and participate in overnight field trips to Camp Cory and Ohio. She was then hired by the school she student taught at for the remainder of the year, and was thrilled to be able to stay with her students through prom and graduation.
沙巴体育滚球"Our Fisher family is one of openness, community, and collaboration. Everyone from professors, to the Lackman dining staff, facilities, and Safety and Security all go out of their way on a daily basis to put students first. They are accommodating and supportive, and go above and beyond the typical classroom experience."

Anna Harmer ’18
Marketing Coordinator and Customer Service Specialist, Integrated Systems
沙巴体育滚球Anna Harmer loves to be creative, so it’s not surprising that she gravitated towards a career that allows her to write blog posts, craft social media content, and design print and web materials. The marketing major, who landed a position with Integrated Systems upon graduation, was also drawn to the company because it reflected the same close-knit atmosphere found at the College.
沙巴体育滚球“I loved the family feel at Fisher so I kept that in mind when it came to my job search,” Anna said.
Not only did she find a job where she can flex her marketing and customer service knowledge, but she’s also immersed in the company culture. As the “office environment manager,” she is charged with planning inner-office celebrations and staff recognition. “It’s one of my favorite parts of the job,” she said.
Anna credits the leadership skills honed through her time as an executive intern in the Office of Marketing and Communications, president of the Student Alumni Association, member of the Orientation Team, and work study with the Processing Center and Office of Campus Life with preparing her for life after Fisher.
“All of my leadership roles and connections with faculty and staff shaped what my life is like today,” she said. “Fisher gave me the platform I needed to development my leadership skills. It set me up for success by providing so many great opportunities.”
Kevin Kulawiec ’18
Inside Sales Representative, Paychex
沙巴体育滚球Kevin Kulawiec, a finance and economics double major, stepped off the stage at Commencement and right into his first job with Paychex. As an inside sales representative, he draws on both his majors and the leadership and teamwork skills he honed as a member of the men’s tennis team to promote new products to current and potential customers.
“A lot of times, I’m the first interaction people have with Paychex, so I want to make sure it is a completely positive one,” Kevin said, noting that economics courses taught by Dr. Clair Smith, along with a study abroad experience in London, England, helped prepare him for life after Fisher.
沙巴体育滚球And, he’s found that many Fisher graduates have also made their careers at Paychex, creating a strong network of alumni and a whole new chance for learning.
“A Fisher education is what set me apart when it came time for the job search. I found that Fisher was very well-known and respected throughout our community, and this is a great first job for me,” he said. “Every day I am developing my personal, professional, and customer service skills, and learning what it’s like to work on a team.”
